When you are working out to lose weight or trying to get rid of that belly fat proteins play a vital role, when we stress the muscles we lose a small amount of muscle tissue and tear small amounts of muscle fibers so adding good amounts of protein to our diets is essential.I remember when i first started training in pro wrestling i was told to do a consultation with their fitness trainer. He opened my eyes on nutrition and i adopted his equation for meals.

Below is a small list of high protein foods sources that i myself use in my daily meal plans, along with the calorie counts and serving size.

Chicken Breast
Not only does it contain high amounts of protein but it also contains other nutrients that our bodies need, this is one of my favorite foods.

4 ounce serving/usually 1 breast
110 calories
protein 23 grams

Canned Tuna packed in water
I always get the cans that are packed in water instead of oil this way it cuts down on the calories.

serving size i can
191 calories
protein 20 grams

Low fat Small Curd Cottage Cheese
This is another favorite of mine that i use late in the evening just before bed time when i get those urges to eat something, our bodies heal better at night while we sleep so this gives the protein boost it needs without the heavy calories and it is slow digesting.
1/2 cup serving
116 calories
protein 14 grams

Catfish Fillets
serving size 1 fillet
216 calories
protein 25 grams

Egg whites
Egg whites are a good source of protein but if you do not want to waste all those yokes you can get liquid egg whites which contain fewer calories.
1 large egg white
17 calories
protein 3.5 grams

When you go shopping for the meats that you like take a look at the labels and it will tell you the suggested serving size and the amount of protein contained in that serving.
